Firefox 3…

I’ve been using Firefox 3 Beta 2 on my XP box at work since its release. Other than a few little user interface bugs (and really, who uses bookmarks anymore?), it’s been rock solid. Stability’s great and all, but I’m looking forward to the final FF3 for one damn reason: it’s fast. Countless lags and memory leaks from script-heavy sites appear to be a thing of the past. I can’t even imagine going back to FF2…

Yet my Ubuntu Gutsy machines are languishing in processing and memory intensive agony running FF2. FF3 never made it into the repos, so I’m building from source

And none of my extensions work. Back to FF2, impatiently awaiting a release candidate worthy enough for the Gutsy repositories. I know it’s just crazytalk, but for the first time in a very long time, I find Linux for want compared to XP. Damn.
